Third Market is where transactions exchange listed securities are executed over the NASDAQ workstation.
Broker dealers will often route trades to the venues that are the most cost effective and efficient. As such many broker dealers elect to execute orders for exchange listed securities in the NASDAQ market. These transactions are a known as third market transactions.
